Welcome to the Black Pop Cultural Studies Music Interactive. Explore the stories of black musicians who: shaped pop culture, helped change the image of black artists, created cultural moments, transcended the music industry and crossed over to other forms of pop culture. Each of these musicians shattered numerous album and concert sales records and collectively transformed the music industry. While not always the first successful musician in their category, each has significantly impacted Black Pop Culture. Please note that several of these musicians have lead troubled lives and have been accused of violence and while this interactive highlights each musicians’ accomplishments, it does not serve as an endorsement.
