Academic Dishonesty

Behavior that could put your academic career in jeopardy. This also includes acting academically dishonest on someone else's behalf, i.e. taking a quiz for someone else, or writing a paper that is not your own.

Cheating

Cheating in a course can happen in a variety of ways, especially in the scope of online courses. Your honesty and integrity are necessary components to ensure that you are completing your own work, conducting your own research, and working to the best of your own ability.

Code of Conduct

Statement of principles and values that establishes a set of expectations and standards between individuals and institutions. The UNLV Student Conduct Code can be found here.

Plagiarism

One of the main ways is providing credit to other people when using their ideas by acknowledging the contributions of other people. Failure to provide this acknowledgment is considered plagiarism. There are many resources out there that can help you with citations. The UNLV library has some excellent tutorials on using other people's ideas (link out) and how to give credit to those people. Additionally, different content areas will have different citation styles. Be sure to know which citation style is required for your degree program.
